Interviewers ask this question to see if you’re coachable, open to suggestions, and willing to learn from your mistakes. They are looking to understand how you adjust your methods to ensure accuracy. They want to know that you’re committed to excellence in your work, and always looking to improve.

Focus on accuracy.

Talk about the critical importance of accuracy in your role. Let your interviewers know that you take this seriously, and detail the safeguards you employ to protect the integrity of your work.

Describe your safeguards.

Share what you do to avoid mistakes and ensure that errors are kept to a minimum. Discuss how you eliminate distractions, ask thoughtful questions, and review work carefully.

Stay coachable.

Since all of us will make mistakes at some point, share your willingness to take feedback and use it to grow. Demonstrate that you don’t take things personally.

Administrative Assistants must prioritize accuracy. Due to the high level of work we do daily, any errors can have significant consequences. We are entrusted with so much information and responsibility that it’s critical to have safeguards in place. I have found it useful to consult trusted advisors to ensure I am staying on track with my goals and objectives. I also put technological safeguards in place to double check my work and identify errors as soon as I type them. Additionally, I do my best not to procrastinate so that I have plenty of time to work on things, rather than staying in rush mode which can lead to unforced errors. Overall, I keep myself in a coachable stance and I stay open to correction. This attitude has served me well, allowing me to grow from each mistake. None of us are infallible. The objective shouldn’t be to never have an error. The goal should be to turn every challenge into a lesson that makes us better.
